The pasta and desserts were amazing! This is a real gem
Mediterraneo exceeded my expectations. Had the Tako Salad and Caprese as appetizers, and Mare Nero as my entrΓ©e. Everything was delicious. Great customer service. I will be coming back to try out the rest of the menu and for more Tako Salad.
Best piccata I've had in awhile
Great atmosphere food is splendid and scrumptious! Will come again to eat pasta! π
The food is always amazing, but more importantly, Fabrizio (the owner) is the life of the party and the servers are the best.
The pasta and rissoto were excellent! The appetizers and salads were overpriced and clearly sized to share. I would propose half-sized options be placed on the menu. The Italian proprietor was eccentric and flagrantly did not wear a mask during the COVID pandemic as he walked throughout the restaurant. They don't have a full bar.
The food is delicious and service was so friendly and portions are huge!
I've been here multiple times now and can officially say that it's legitimate Italian food. As someone who's from the NYC area, my bar for Italian food is set very high, and this place exceeds my expectations. I've now had their red sauce and Marsala, and they were both excellent. Their seafood is delicious, the chicken was cooked perfectly, the pasta is absolutely on point, and Fabrizioβs house-made sausage is stellar. On top of that, Fabrizio makes sure all his guests are happy, and his staff, including Kyle, are great. Highly recommend.
Friendly. Good dinner. Amazing dessert! I bake a lot and they had a very creative creme brulet cheese cake. They have a very isolated out door table to the left of the entrance. My first sit down dinner since covid. Used the hawaii resturant card.
This place took me back to my time in Naples, Italy. The chef is amazing. The staff is lovely and attentive. I recommend this place if you'd like a taste of Italy. The bolognese was spot on.
eh, maybe don't order the pizza. the other dishes were good. expect to spend time dining.
Love the atmosphere here - tiny & cozy with a nice outdoor patio area. Food is great & reasonably priced (plus they provide some amazing flatbread to whet your appetite). Free parking in the back.
Every time we're there, we are served wonderful, authentic italian food. The owner is eccentric but nice, and passionate about serving his customers good food. His family helps and they are all friendly. Go here for a great experience. π€.
Always delicious and great atmosphere. Been coming here for years and hopefully will for many more! Please help support them during covid-19 so we don't lose another great local business. π π π
I expected that Squid ink pasta has Squid ink sauce, but it was ink pasta and goat cheese sauce. I tastes very delicious but smells gamy. I'm okay with that, but my family didn't like the gamy smelt. It's slightly pricy. I'd like to try Squid ink risotto next time. The owner is very funny and happy guy. The restaurant itself is very cozy and pretty and cute. the workers are friendly too.
Great dinner at an unassuming place. The mozzarella in the caprese is the best I have ever had. My wife had the fruiti di mare and loved it. I had the carbonara and it was excellent...plenty of big chunks of delicious bacon. Street parking was no big deal. Best Italian food we have had in the year we have lived here. We will be back.
The food was amazing and the owner and his wife are funny and great hosts. I can't wait to go back.
Love love love this restaurant. Food. Ambiance. Service. All excellent!
Delicious, friendly, such a nice place to eat
One of the best dining experiences, I've ever experienced. I haven't had any good Italian food on the island untill I ate here! They serve complimentary fresh baked bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar I'm not a big tomato fan, but the Bruschetta was a delicious and refreshing appetizer. The Lobster Ravioli is a must try. It's perfectly balanced with fresh lobster and creamy white sauce. I had the Hazelnut Ice cream for dessert and it's basically the best gelato I've ever had. Think about Nutella Icecream! The owner Fabrizio, originally from Roma, and is one of the nicest people I've met on the island, very personable. He even escorted us out! I highly recommend this place, and will definitely be back! Mahalos, Fabrizio and staff for the amazing experience! Photo credit goes to Paul Millar
Dry pasta and gave me spoon to eat
Quaint little outdoor seating area, extensive menu. The pasta was perfectly salted and al dente, we ordered STRANGOLAPRETI The homemade sausage was to die for along with the pappardelle. It was really beautiful.
Always a great meal
This place is so good, the owner/chef/ godfather does an amazing job with his culinary creation from his seafood rissoto to his amazing mushroom truffle pizza and probably the best Tiramisu I have ever had, but don't take my word for it give it a try and you will be hooked this little place is one of the best kept secrets in town.
What a marvelous experience! Good was superb. Staff were helpfully attentive. Whole feel of restaurant was friendly and happy. Definitely look forward to visiting again.
To good taste!
Bellisimo! I've known the owner Fabrizio since he was a partner at the cutest wine bar called Pane Vino in Waikiki. I LOVED going there. Mediterraneo is an authentic Italian restaurant in Honolulu - amazing pizza is cooked in the traditional oven outside on the lanai and he visits each table usually making guests drink a Grapa or Limoncello shot with him. He just opened a place next door for intimate events as well.
This place is amazing. The Chef is Italian, the waitress was Italian and the owner was Italian. How much more can you ask for from an Italian Restaurant. The Mexican guy cooking the woodfired oven pizza was amazing also, I believe his name was Alberto. Can't wait to go back!
The location was easy to understand, there was a pizza oven outside the store, and the staff welcomed me. Alcohol is also sold in the store, and 10% off for cash. The food was all delicious without waiting too much.
My husband and I stumbled on this little place when another Italian place didnβt serve wine. So very glad! The food is authentic and amazing and honestly we donβt mind the price. Service can be slow, but we donβt care. We never feel rushed. Everyone is friendly. Itβs little and quaint but the food is on point. You must try the creme brΓ»lΓ©e cheesecake.
Very good food. Very pricey. Watch for the 20% tip added for groups of 6. Very friendly staff.
Yum. Some wait but worth it.
Homey delicious Italian food. Not suuuuper authentic, but it was delicious. Surprisingly the lasagna is the way to go. Huge portion with a decent layer of meat among sauce and noodle. A perfect mess. The squid ink pasta was okay. Honestly there was too much cheese in the sauce, so it was a bit coying. Service was inconsistent but unintentional I think. For example, our dishes all came out at a different time. It's a small kitchen so I don't blame them too much for that.
Very good food. Had a special; Stewed Oxtail osso buco style with saffron rizoto. shared pizza as appetizer. Will definitley go back. nice outdoor seating area near the wood burning pizza oven. Service could have been better.
Authentic Italian food. A bit on the pricey side. Chef/Owner is from Rome.
Really good food and great wine selection!
It was really delicious
This place was great! The owner and the servers were very nice and friendly. The food was great! All i can say is FRESH HOUSE MADE PASTA!!!!!! There is a huge difference between boxed/dried pasta and freshly made pasta. I would definitely recommend this place. (The house made meatballs were pretty darn yummy too!)
Very good and authentic, the owner himself even offered up a great choice of wine which I throughly enjoyed
Very rich everything and the pleasant atmosphere, but the dishes are very small .. the rest impeccable!
It has been a long time since I just wanted to leave a place to go somewhere else. I truly was excited to try this place but everything was lackluster, other than the bread you are provided when you sit down but even that and waters took 10+ mins. Chicken Picatta seemed a bit rubbery and since it was all cut up not sure if it was a fresh breast, first time ever that I've seen served like that and wife's meal was just ok, but then ok is a frozen italian dinner. The place seems run down rather than homey, well we learned not to trust previous reviews so much, gentleman that served us barely checked on us and took almost 30 mins to pay once the bill was at the table. Very disappointed
I saw the word of mouth and made a reservation and visited with my family Was it crowded Waiting outside and forgetting ... The store clerk in the outside area also feels bad I didn't know if I was busy with my family, but it wasn't a word of mouth. The owner seems to change the store When I told Chubby, it was a terrible response. I wonder why there are shops that get this when they get busy. We waited, but went to kind minato.
This is where I go for great Italian food. The pizza is how I like fresh ingredients, thin crust brick oven. I recently tried the Tako salad, the octopus is twice cooked... So tender I could cut with my fork. Bring your one bottle!
Absolutely fantastic! Everyone is so nice and the food was amazing!!! Found this place on chance and everything and everyone is so welcoming! Definitely a an βoff the beaten pathβ gem!
Cozy romantic restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine. Get the espresso after cena. Still haven't tried the pizza but it looked good.
I am really not sure if its always like this, or we came on an off night but we didn't have a very good experience. We were seated outside and given waters. Then after about 30 min or so, I had to go inside and ask for service because no one came back. They came out took our order, food came at a decent time but then that was it. My husband had to go in again and asked for a check when we were long done after our meals. Not once someone just came out to check on us. The table next to us had the same experience. Food was okay. Paid $24 for a chicken dish and had to add $4 for a little bit of pasta. Wasnt anything special. Husband had fettuccini that was sprinkled with lobster. We were pretty disappointed overall.
Wow an exciting experience. Fabrizio, the owner & his partner are hospitable, gregarious & generous. Absolutely one of the most enjoyable dining experiences my wife & I have had while on vacation. I highly recommend it. You will enjoy it.
Characterful head staff. Warm busy Tuscany-colored interior. Enjoyed excellent burratta with EVO ripe local π and basil, π salad, gnocchi with hearty Gorgonzola, parpadelle with porcini, elegant tiramisu. Adjacent wine shop/closet to buy curated bottles, $20 corkage. Parking is hit or miss, with a small lot to the makai side of the restaurant. Limited availability of reservations. Overall a true π
Great place, I have been a long time customer. And always recommend this place to friends. The food is amazing, and the owner is so friendly and is always hanging out in the dining area making sure everyone is happy. I also really love their new location because it has great outdoor seating as well.
NEVER judge a book by its cover. Food was amazing and could easily be served in any upscale restaurant in a major metropolitan area. They have been around for 30 years and we love that they want to stay small, casual and intimate. Italian food made by Italian cooks. What more could you ask for? We would come back to Hawaii just to eat here.
